May 4, 2008, found the Council 4778 Knights of Columbus members, family and friends helping make the roads to Lidgerwood a more welcome sight. The Knights and the helpers cleaned six miles of highway, three on Highway 18 North of Lidgerwood and three on Highway 11 to the West of Lidgerwood. As I approach from the west, I can truly enjoy this cleaner view into town. The knights have been part of the Adopt-a-Highway program in North Dakota for many years. We can all be grateful and enjoy the time and effort that they have put into this for all of us to be able to see the difference that it makes.

Being a recipient of blood in the past, I am greatly appreciative of this effort to help out a very note worthy cause. This action shows a great respect for life and health and I salute all those who donate and who do the phone calling to line up donations. All of this takes work and time. Thank you! especially to Mike and Kathy Skroch and to Dave Breker for all your phone calls and preparation work. Thanks also to the Knights of Columbus for proving a great facility and lunch for the doners.

Well we survived the election process and we have the official results. Some of you have read them in the paper but if not here they are. Bonnie Bubach, Gary Scheffler, and Ruben Medenwald were all elected to the 4 year terms they ran for. Bruce Lynn also won his 2 year term. We are still waiting on the write in for the open two year term. Kathleen Schultz won the Judge, and our two Park Board positions will be filled by Diane Aker and Carie Illies.
The election process was great. I enjoyed running the voting tabulator. I like machines. I was surprised at how quick and easy it is to keep your privacy with the macines. I hope to see a few use the auto mark machine to mark their ballots next time. It was the best way to see our government in action. Everyone can have a voice regardless of age, class, race or ability. I’m looking forward to the November election. I hope that all the ladies will be back to take another go at the Election process. Thanks to all who voted and gave us some work!!!!
See you in November!!!!

Our city is having elections soon. We have many city council seats open this year. Our past leaders have done a great job. They have given others the chance to step up to the plate. Yes, the people listened and have done this. We have people running for all of our open seats. This is a great time for our town. New ideas and energy are always needed and appreciated. I would like to think that our Horizon project has had some impact in bringing our needs to the forefront. Thanks to all who are participating in the upcoming elections.

Last week our main street was a sea of orange vests and men holding strange stick like objects. They talked to each other with walkie talkies and took time to visit with the kids and I. The State of ND is mapping the area. Planning for a new surface for our main street which is also a state highway. This will have an impact on our community in several ways that are obvious to me. Business will be disrupted for a time for all our merchants. This also brings to the forefront the obvious cost of a project of this type. If we do our Main Street does this also open the door for other street projects? Can we affoard this? Can we affoard not to do this? I will be looking to our City Council for answers.

This is a chance for all the kids to gather and listen to wonderful stories and do projects together. Last year the kids had a great time.
My grandkids are looking forward to seeing their friends and working at the tables. Making the library a fun place to visit is so important to the kids. Gives them a good foundation for visiting their library for other services. Thanks so much everyone.

Other communities in our area have support groups for their libraries. The groups provide support in funding, program ideas, and collection improvements. Our group will start at the beginning. We will work with the library board to identify needs and then move to help accomplish some exciting things for our library and community.

Lidgerwood is moving ahead under the leadership of John Popp and Curt Brownlee.
They are the president and vice president or the Lidgerwood Community Club. This organization has evolved from the LBA or the Lidgerwood Business Organization. By opening the group to the entire community, this will allow all folks of our community to join together to help make our town better. Our upcoming projects are Heritage Day. This will be joined with our Kolache Day. On July 26, 2008 we will celebrate our past and look to the future.
Should be a great day. The LCC also has other projects in the works.
Good job guys.
