Making a cleaner welcome to Lidgerwood

Monday, June 30th, 2008

May 4, 2008, found the Council 4778 Knights of Columbus members, family and friends helping make the roads to Lidgerwood a more welcome sight. The Knights and the helpers cleaned six miles of highway, three on Highway 18 North of Lidgerwood and three on Highway 11 to the West of Lidgerwood. As I approach from the west, I can truly enjoy this cleaner view into town. The knights have been part of the Adopt-a-HighwaySampling of a few clean-up workers program in North Dakota for many years. We can all be grateful and enjoy the time and effort that they have put into this for all of us to be able to see the difference that it makes.

Blood helps save lives

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Dave Breker shown during his blood donation.April 18th the Knights of Columbus hosted a blood drive through United Blood Services. Being a recipient of blood in the past, I am greatly appreciative of this effort to help out a very note worthy cause. This action shows a great respect for life and health and I salute all those who donate and who do the phone calling to line up donations. All of this takes work and time. Thank you! especially to Mike and Kathy Skroch and to Dave Breker for all your phone calls and preparation work. Thanks also to the Knights of Columbus for proving a great facility and lunch for the doners.

New Community Organization

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Lidgerwood is moving ahead under the leadership of John Popp and Curt Brownlee.
They are the president and vice president or the Lidgerwood Community Club. This organization has evolved from the LBA or the Lidgerwood Business Organization. By opening the group to the entire community, this will allow all folks of our community to join together to help make our town better. Our upcoming projects are Heritage Day. This will be joined with our Kolache Day. On July 26, 2008 we will celebrate our past and look to the future.
Should be a great day. The LCC also has other projects in the works.
Good job guys.

Elections

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

As the new City Auditor I am face with many new experiences. One that I am looking forward to is the upcoming city election. I will be Lidgerwood’s election inspector. It sounds scary but I have a group of voulenteers that hve worked elections in the past and I know they will help me through. We dodn’t have any big issues on our ballot this year so I am hoping for a big turnout without too many problems. I hope the members of our comunity come out to show support of their community by voting. I hope to see some of the yourger people in town voting too. I’ll write an update after its all over and let you know how we all faired.
Till later,
Kristin

Community Spirit Is Alive And Well Here

Monday, March 24th, 2008

What a difference a few days makes. Just recently several city council people resigned. Our community needed new leaders. The word got out and we have more that a few new people ready to accept leadership in our community. Every community needs willing people to help and take the time to make their town better. Hats off to all the folks who will be on the ballot in our city election in June.

Neighbors Together

Friday, February 29th, 2008

dsc06096b-web.jpgFebruary 16, 2008, friends, family and neighbors got together at the KC Hall in Lidgerwood for a fund raising extravaganza to help Virgil Woytassek pay medical expenses. Many members of surrounding communities joined in for the festivities. There was great food, a live auction, many silent auction items and raffles going on throughout the evening. Virgil was called on at the end of the evening to say a few words. I wasn’t the only one with tears in my eyes. It was so wonderful to see all those people working together!

WELCOME

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

I just heard today that a welcome committee that was formed at one of our study groups has now put together a Welcome to Lidgerwood Packet. This contains a News-Monitor and church bullitins (neither of these are necessarily recent.) Included are maps of the tri-state area, brochures of the local area, info on our school and info on the Lidgerwood website.
Just stop in at City Hall to say hi! to Kristin and pick up a packet.
