Making a cleaner welcome to Lidgerwood

Monday, June 30th, 2008

May 4, 2008, found the Council 4778 Knights of Columbus members, family and friends helping make the roads to Lidgerwood a more welcome sight. The Knights and the helpers cleaned six miles of highway, three on Highway 18 North of Lidgerwood and three on Highway 11 to the West of Lidgerwood. As I approach from the west, I can truly enjoy this cleaner view into town. The knights have been part of the Adopt-a-HighwaySampling of a few clean-up workers program in North Dakota for many years. We can all be grateful and enjoy the time and effort that they have put into this for all of us to be able to see the difference that it makes.

Blood helps save lives

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Dave Breker shown during his blood donation.April 18th the Knights of Columbus hosted a blood drive through United Blood Services. Being a recipient of blood in the past, I am greatly appreciative of this effort to help out a very note worthy cause. This action shows a great respect for life and health and I salute all those who donate and who do the phone calling to line up donations. All of this takes work and time. Thank you! especially to Mike and Kathy Skroch and to Dave Breker for all your phone calls and preparation work. Thanks also to the Knights of Columbus for proving a great facility and lunch for the doners.

Congratulations on the formation of the Lidgerwood Community Club. What a great resource for the future of your community. It is so beneficial to have an organized group working on a long term plan for growth and success.

We have also planned a community fundraiser for Tinky Field.  The fundraiser is taking place Saturday May 31 at the KC Hall, 5:30 to 11:00.  We are excited to how much support the comunity can show. Stardust and the Fust Band will be providing our entertainment. Come on out and join us for food and fun for Tinky Field.

I’m A HERO

Friday, April 18th, 2008

This may exagerating a bit but I and many of my community members became everyday heros today when we donated blood. United Blood Services comes down every two months or so to the KC Hall to take donations. Its a great feeling of community spirit to be able to help out in this way. We always get good cookies and juice when we are done. Thanks to all who came out to donate. Every little bit helps!

Ronda Rocks

Monday, March 31st, 2008

A visit from Jodi was the kick start we needed. We met with Jodi on Tues for our “rest break” meeting. Shelby and Rosalie were with us too. We visited and listened as Jodi told us of projects and accomplishments from other towns, The most exciting to me was the business card talking about the blog site. If you are reading thes, then you know what a blog is. Congratulations. Ronda showed up at my door in just a few hours. She had completed our page in the Horizon book and produced our Blog Cards. Our local distributor immediately began to blanket the town with our cards to help promote our blog and our community. Great job Ronda.

Computers Are It

Monday, March 31st, 2008

I attended the most wonderful class on March 25. Kathy Skroch worked with Richland Co Extension Service to offer this opportunity.
The room was filled with grown ups who are just like me. We all felt a bit uncomfortable with our machines. I can only accomplish this writing because my daughter talks me through it.
We all worked on our assignments and helped each other. Some attempts were successful and others required a bit of help. We all agreed that is was a great class. We scheduled our next meeting in April. It was a great chance for folks from Lidgerwood and the surrounding area to stretch our skills. An opportunity we would not have had without the cooperation of the school, Richland Co Extension, and hard work from Kathy Skroch.
Thanks Kathy
See you in April

Community Spirit Is Alive And Well Here

Monday, March 24th, 2008

What a difference a few days makes. Just recently several city council people resigned. Our community needed new leaders. The word got out and we have more that a few new people ready to accept leadership in our community. Every community needs willing people to help and take the time to make their town better. Hats off to all the folks who will be on the ballot in our city election in June.

Neighbors Together

Friday, February 29th, 2008

dsc06096b-web.jpgFebruary 16, 2008, friends, family and neighbors got together at the KC Hall in Lidgerwood for a fund raising extravaganza to help Virgil Woytassek pay medical expenses. Many members of surrounding communities joined in for the festivities. There was great food, a live auction, many silent auction items and raffles going on throughout the evening. Virgil was called on at the end of the evening to say a few words. I wasn’t the only one with tears in my eyes. It was so wonderful to see all those people working together!
