Neighbors Together

Friday, February 29th, 2008

dsc06096b-web.jpgFebruary 16, 2008, friends, family and neighbors got together at the KC Hall in Lidgerwood for a fund raising extravaganza to help Virgil Woytassek pay medical expenses. Many members of surrounding communities joined in for the festivities. There was great food, a live auction, many silent auction items and raffles going on throughout the evening. Virgil was called on at the end of the evening to say a few words. I wasn’t the only one with tears in my eyes. It was so wonderful to see all those people working together!

Goodness In Action

When I took this job as City Auditor I knew that I would meet many new and interesting people. I met such a person the other day and I think you would like to hear about it. This gentleman came in to pay a bill and left with a mission. He is very concerned with poverty in our community. He said he was hungry once and he doen’t want others to be in the same situation. He asked that I descretly ask around for anyone in the community who may be needing a little help. He asked me to keep his name out of it but he would like to hlelp in any way he could. I was touched. I would like to thank him in advance for all the help he is willing to give.

For the Birds

Friday, February 29th, 2008

My name is Kathy and this is my first blog.
I love birds and Lidgerwood is a great place to watch our feathered friends. I was fortunate enough to participate in the Cornell University bird count. It is amazing the kind of birds we have in this area. Please look at the site to see what others have counted. Birding is such a wonderfull pastime. Any one can do it and you don’t need any special equipment. A pair of binoculars comes in handy for identification of diffrent species but they are not necessary. I would encourage anyone to stop for a minute and look to the skies, you may be amazed at what you see.

We Got It.

Our city Library has briefly been without a public computer. It was nolonger able to connect up to the internet. This caused quite a few complaints to come through my office. People tried to be patient but it was tough. The Library Board was stumped with how to rectify the problem.
Dakota Estates heard our call. Our Retierment/Assisted living Home generously donated a computer to our library. Our Mayor Dennis Schudar picked it up and got it running for us all. We couldn’t be happier!!!
