Have a Seat

May 28th, 2010 by mojica

Come on in and sit down.  I mean it.   Come to Lidgerwood and have a seat.  We have new benches enhancing out Main Street.  Just a great place to visit with a neighbor.  We at Kathy’s Kids sit on each bench we come across. Bobbi Jo Brause and the FFA students here in Lidgerwood built the benches.  They are a great addition to our Main Street. Thanks so much Bobbi Jo and students.

The Eagle Has Landed

100_41281.jpgRepaired Eagle at Legion ParkThe eagle has landed back on his feet right here in Lidgerwood.  Not the Eagle space craft, the eagle at the Legion Park.  He toppled over during the heavy snow and the melt.  Such a majestic bird.  The problem was solved by some young men in our town.   Francisco Bach and Grayden Bach came to the rescue of our national symbol.  Many thanks to them.  God bless America

Time to get recognized

May 20th, 2010 by mojica

The new brochures of our city are ready to find their way across the Upper Midwest to help point the way to our great town.  Kolache Capital is our claim to fame.

The girls at the Lidgerwood Cafe have kept the tradition alive.  Rosie’s Bakery in Hankinson also supplies our Jack and Jill with these tasty treats.  I love the Apricot and the Prune.

What’s your favorite?

Parade Season Arrived Early

May 20th, 2010 by mojica

What a site on Main Street today!  Sign crews putting up cones and barrels.  A huge track hoe ready to work.  It was enough to make the folks at Kathy’s Kids cheer.

Lowell from the Lidgerwood Lumber added to the excitement by following the parade route to deliver building supplies.  We waved and clapped.

OtterTail Power was taking part also.   Doing some locating of underground wires to keep everyone safe during the construction time.

What a great day.

A walking we will go

April 12th, 2010 by mojica

Lidgerwood is a great place to live.  Kathy’s Kids kids were out walking this AM and we spotted a small dog running down main street between cars.  The dog came right over to us and we all made a big fuss over him.   Six kids to petting you must be a dogs dream.

John Popp told us to take him to the City Office.  We did this after a time of holding and petting him.  Trigger is his name and he had a phone number on his tags.  He was returned to his family very quickly.

Our walk also took us to the Warbird.  We had bakery treats and a drink of milk to give us energy to finish our walk.  Love the new place.  So friendly.   The roast beef does not have MSG.  Sam called the meat company he orders from just to ask for me.   What service.

We bought bucks, shovels, pails, sifters, and every sand toy the Gutzmers had.   Now it is raining.   Don’t you just love it.

Floods keep us on our toes

April 9th, 2010 by mojica

Flooding in Lidgerwood is a problem.  People and property have not been seriously harmed, but a disaster of other kinds is always possible.  Evacuation plans are necessary for my business.  Kids are important and must be well cared for.  If an evacuation were forced by storm or fire, my kids need to be safe.  North Dakota has asked all licensed child care groups to have a plan on file.  We need a safe place inside the community and outside the community.  These plans are on file with the county.  Good idea? you bet.

SO FAR WE HAVE THREE

April 9th, 2010 by mojica

Can you guess what the THREE is?

We have three candidates for the office of Mayor of Lidgerwood.  While quite an honnor, this job sometimes is not sought out.  Well, look out.  It speaks well of our town to have 3 men who want to help our town keep moving forward.  Jerry Nelson, Steven Oddo, and Corrie Frankl have stepped up to the plate.  They know that without leadership our town will not more ahead as quickly.  Thanks to these guys and all who help our town.

Bring your rake and paintbrush

Park cleanup is scheduled for May 8, 2010 at 1PM.  The pool park will be cleaned and made ready for the summer season.  Our kids or grandkids use this park all summer.  Let’s all try to get there and help out.  If you can’t be there, call a park board member and ask for a chore you can do any other time.  We have a great park with a beautiful shelter and kitchen.  Let’s all work together and have it ready for fun.

LCC gears up again

April 9th, 2010 by mojica

You know the old saying “Can’t keep a good man down”.  The same can be said for the Lidgerwood Community Club.   The organization has been known by other names, the Chamber of Commerce, The Lidgerwood Business Association.  Thurs. eve. business folks and just plain people and a rep from the City Council met to help our town.  It was decided to keep the organization going, to collect dues, and to make plans for events in the town.  The current officers agreed to continue their jobs.  John Popp and Curt Brownlee are co chairs.  Secretary is Joan Biewer and Treasurer is Deb Stensvold.  Our thanks to these good folks for a job well done and for their future work.

Photos of the meeting were taken and will be sent to Harley Guenther so he can put new info on our website.  With no new info our website is not current.  This is through the fault of the members of the community who just don’t understand the importance of new information.  People from Lidgerwood don’t look at the website, people from outside our area are the ones who view the site.  This is a great tool to promote our town.  Let’s all hope we can learn new things to help our town.  Lots of other topics were discussed at the LCC meeting.  The next meeting is scheduled for May 4th at the Lidgerwood Cafe at noon. See you there.
